everyday! i am about to step up onto a soapbox. i am usually not one to lecture. most of you know me and know that i am usually pretty laid back, go with the flow, to each their own, kinda girl. but there are some things that i am pretty passionate about and our mother earth is one of them. i dont have a picture to post but what i do have for you are some facts. some facts that are hard to ignore. i hope that you all are aware of how YOU effect this world. i dont have much control over the huge debts that we are leaving our children but i sure can make a difference here. sooooo there is no more room for excuses. if you do not recylce then you should be asking yourself WHY? dont tell me that it is because it is not offered in your area, because you know what? we just got that option about three months ago. d and i would drive our recyclables into a place. it is not hard to put a big storage bin in your garage and take it in every week or so. it only takes seconds to rinse something and put it in a seperate bin. and dont even get me started on the bottled water thing. go out and spend the $10 on a reusable bottle and buy a water purifier. You can get them for cheap. and when you figure the cost of what you spend on those bottles in one year there is no arguement. plus it is absolutely discusting how many of those bottle are filling up our earth. ok so enough of the lecture, here are the facts.
-recycling just one aluminum can will provide enough power to run your tv for three hours and there is not limit to the number of times it can be recycled. a recycled aluminum can will make it back on a store shelf in 60 days.
-to produce each weeks sunday paper, 500,000 trees are cut down. The average american uses 7 trees in one year. How many did you plant? aproximately 1 billion trees in paper are thrown away each year.
-americans use 2,500,000 plasitc bottles each HOUR! most of which are thrown away. plastic bags and other plastic garbage that gets trown into the ocean kills 1,000,000 sea creatures each year. Buy yourself a reusable water bottle and get some reusable grocery bags.
-each month we trow away enough glass to fill a huge skyscraper. all of it is recyclable.
I could go on and on but i will leave it at this. please do your part. you can check out http://www.recyling-revolution.com for more info.
