the galloping goose

... made a ski-bunny out of our little girl. yep, little miss m had her first ski trip this weekend. we got the hook up at the mary jane ski resort this weekend from uncle bret. we took over his house, took his bed away from him, and he paid us back with some fun in the sun and snow! spring is the best time to ski, it is warm, which means those toes don't get so cold!
Here she is all geared up and ready to go...

she wasn't so excited about her "pink" helmet that emma sent her. hand-me-downs are cool i told her, emma wore this on her first ski trip.... [long face]... but blue is my favorite color.... and its just really pink. lol!

this is about the time she said she was scared.... we kept going... then she says her legs are broke and there are real tears :(

all she wanted to do was ride the lift! so with a little coxing we got her to do two runs. they were filled with laughter and tears. no matter what uncle bret or i said she didnt want to ski... lets take off the skis and walk to the lift... ummm it doesnt really work that way. so we took a lunch break and talked her into one more run. three because she is three. and it was our lucky day because on our way back out we ran into derek, one of uncle brets good buddies. now at this point I should stop and explain derek to you... think forest gump in his running phase.... long beard, long hair, really long on both, and he is probably a good 6 foot 3. but the guys is so nice and maggie has always liked him. at first she said he couldnt ski with us. ok, her and I took off on our own. about a quarter of the way down uncle b joined us, and then here comes derek skiing backwards.. these guys are good. m rode the galloping goose to the top again with derek. I figured that was our day, but when they got off m was all ready to go. I dont know what he said to her but that was it... I handed my child over and she skied tear free with uncle bret and derek for 6 more runs.
and then theres this little guy... he looked cool enough to be on the hill, and boy was he mad that he just had to sit and watch.
but he didnt miss out on all the fun. on sunday when we arrive we dropped daddy off at the mountain to ski with uncle bret while the kids and I messed around town. we had lunch and then hit the park, which also had a cool sled hill. so we played, and sledded, and played, and sledded, jack was even going down alone after about tree runs. and there we stayed until uncle bret and daddy got off the mountain. they met us for our last run of the day.

what an awesome two days in fraser, co.
