time, threasures, two

lots of T's to choose from...
Jack will be two in just 14 days. we have a birthday party in just 9. it is a little bitter-sweet. i am enjoying his growing independence. but am surprised by how "big" he wants to be. i am sure it is because he wants to do what maggie does but he just seems too far ahead of it all for me. he has not used a highchair in almost a year and will now not use a booster, wants to sit on his knees, like maggie. and then the other night this happened...

last night was his third night in his big-boy bed. the only assembled baby item in this house right now is his crib, this weekend it will be gone too.

treasures. i was never the baby-book type of mom. but i am the throw-it-in-a-box type, plus it is so much more fun diggin in their treasure boxes.... you will find the caps and blankets they came home from the hospital with, some favorite little outfits, first shoes, and all the things that are them. I even have one for us, filled with little things they have made.

and then there is this treasure... an unexpected gift when maggie was born, it is my favorite, and something i hope to pass on to their children, with some of their favorites added in.

these are d's books from his childhood. they were passed onto his younger cousins and his aunt dede and uncle leo saved them all that time.... i love it when we snuggle up for a bedtime story and it reads dustan colby franklund on the inside cover.

time... i want it to stop... there is never enough of it... it gets away from me. we have lots of stuff going on this summer and i am gonna be in big trouble if i dont get a handle on things. i have two classes left until i am done with my masters, this summer i will be writing a 30 page research paper, maggie starts t-ball and summer camp the same week, jack will start swim class, and that is just in the month of june. oh, and i just signed on to be on the committee for the colorado heart associations go red for women. i am getting better with my procrastination. a few months back i walked the house and made myself a list of things that needed to be done. some are small, some are big projects. i have knocked quite a few things off the list. the kids room is redecorated and ready to be rid of the crib, the playroom has new shelves and is organized, the dining room is now the living room and vice-versa, the spare bedroom is rearranged, and i will be painting the kitchen next week while we are awaiting our new counter tops. i feel like this really old house is new again.
